The Discovery Collection is a jewel-toned array of one-of-a-kind artworks that invites viewers to embark on an inspiring journey of introspection and self discovery. Each piece encourages reflection on personal growth and the unique steps we all take into the future.
Jennifer Rae Ochs describes her vision for this ongoing and developing bold collection as; “I want each piece to be a catalyst for self-discovery, allowing viewers to see their own journey and movements reflected in the layers of color and texture.”
The technique behind these artworks is complex and diligent. Each piece comprises hundreds of thin acrylic paint layers and scores of mixed media elements, meticulously built and sculpted onto the canvas. The result is a collection of 3D sculpted, layered pieces that are both timeless and elegant, with a light-interactive, pearlescent quality. Materials used include mined aggregates, gels, molding pastes, mica, micro glass, crystals, and an abundance of patience.
As Ochs explains, The materials, tools, and numerous techniques I choose are integral to the storytelling. They add depth and dimension, transforming the canvas into a dynamic and evolving experience for the viewer.
This commitment to materiality and process is evident in each piece, where elements such as mined aggregates, gels, molding pastes, mica, micro glass, crystals, and an abundance of patience come together to create a symphony of texture and light. The pearlescent quality of the works interacts with ambient light, shifting and changing as the viewer moves, making each encounter with the art a unique experience.

The fine artist indulges her passion for design, multimedia creation, adventure, and travel alongside her dedication to the study of classical piano. Jennifer has been based in Los Angeles since 2000. She now divides her time between the LA studio and travels for her art exhibition tours. JRO’s work can be seen domestically and internationally at art festivals, galleries, and museums.
